Kanade really got a kick out of her first music festival experience. Now with Otoha, Otoha’s brother Gaku, and Gaku’s friend/employee/always brooding Ritsuru, Kanade will now be taking part in a new experience:
Overnight camping at the Rock On Japan Festival!
The first volume was where Kanade got to experience something incredible by going to a music festival. This second volume is her essentially diving in, as now she’s got to prep for a two-day festival. The prep goes well enough for her (poor, not-so-comfortable sleeping bag that barely can fit in her backpack not withstanding!), and the prep pretty much varies between the group as it ranges from Mitsuru either happily or begrudgingly putting together a playlist of the bands that’ll be at the festival to Otoha’s last-minute planning. Then before you know it, it’s time to head out!
The actual festival experience takes up a majority of the volume though. So if you were expecting any additional activities, it’s just the four of them and what they do during it. So it ranges from simple (camp set-up) to going wild listening to their favorite band (Like Kanade’s, Daze on Youth). It’ll then have them go through the wide space of the festival to them stopping by the hot springs. You’ll then have moments where the two adults have an irresponsible time — see Gaku and Ritsuru getting drunk; meanwhile the two girls, especially Kanade, enjoy the nice grilled food.
There were a few moments of personal reflection though. As Kanade continues to enjoy diving into festivals, Otoha explains how she became a festival junkie, and it’s almost similar to Kanade’s experience. It’s a case where her brother Gaku convinced her to go for the first time. And after just going once, Otoha just simply couldn’t stop. You can certainly relate to doing something that becomes too memorable to do only once, and it’s nice to see that. Another moment was when Kanade made a new memory by bumping into the singer of her favorite band — and subsequently clamming up because what in the world can you say at that moment?
Days on Fes volume 2 continues displaying the appeals of going to the festival, some of the weirder thoughts from Ritsuru, and an overall fresh vibe through the use of music and large crowds. The art still remains lovely, and the fashion still seems pretty neat. The only thing now is what will the four of them do after this? What will be the next experience for Kanade? Can only hope it’ll be something fun!
