News

12:57: Evangelion is gonna drop on Netflix…not in the Spring! They missed it by a day, as it will air June 21. Was a little weird how it was marketed though.

16:32: A lot of new anime were announced at AnimeJapan. Here’s that list of anime, starting with sequels:

  • Saiki K
  • Re:Zero
  • Cells at Work!
  • Hi Score Girl
  • Baki

17:58: Next we get into new anime, specifically of stuff that have their works licensed in the West:

This ends up leading to more of a discussing regarding the industry at large being more connected than ever with Japan, as a lot of titles in the West are being licensed before they get an anime.

27:09: If you thought we were done with Netflix, no, not really.

28:19: Skull-face Bookseller Honda-san is gonna end with its 4th volume. Sounds like an excellent stopping point.

28:59: Funimation is teaming up with Chinese streaming service bilibili, which will mark the third team up they’ve done in the industry. Justin and Helen wonder how that’s gonna go.

Licensing News

32:00: Discotek licensed The Twelve Kingdoms and Nagasarete Airantou,and will bring those and Sonic X on BD.

32:56: Creamy Mami is now available to stream on Midnight Pulp and Asian Crush.

34:31: GKIDS licensed Children of the Sea, and it will air in theaters at some point this year.

35:35: Maiden Japan licensed Asura Cryin’ and Kanamemo. Helen managed to mix Kanamemo up with Kamimemo. Understandable.

37:20: J-Novel Club announced they licensed The Greatest Magicmaster’s Retirement Plan, Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill, Ascendance of a Bookworm LN, and Full Metal Panic!. The LN. Yep, that’s a big announcement. This gets Justin thinking about the future possibilities.

42:19: VIZ made some manga announcements: a Yuri, a re-release as a perfect edition, and a Shonen Jump manga in print.

43:37: Seven Seas announced that they’ve licensed Gal Gohan, the Dance to the Vampire Bund sequel, and yuri graphic novel RoadQueen: Eternal Roadtrip to Love.

44:57: Finally (which is usually never final but for now it is), Kodansha Comics and Vertical teamed up to make some announcements. More Nisoisin titles is a must for them — one of them however has Oh!Great drawing the manga. They also licensed the sequel to one of the Seraph of the End LNs.

Kodansha announced that they will release the Cells at Work spin-off, Code Black, Grandblue Fantasy, yuri manga If I Can Reach You, more Fairy Tail (the sequel and a box set), and a box set to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Magic Knight Rayearth.
