Show Notes
0:00: Justin and Helen once again blab about their lives that don’t involve nerd stuff. Well, sorta, as Helen talks about how this past season of Boogiepop was fantastic, while Justin thinks a bit about that film involving superheroes and lots of people flocking to see it. LOTS. OF. PEOPLE.
News
9:45: Two of the more influential artists around the world, Kazuo Koike and Monkey Punch passed away last month, and the two hosts briefly reflect on the impact those two had.
11:52: Justin and Helen talk a bit about the anime industry, specifically the part where it’s been reported that there’s a ton of overwork within the industry over the past month. And adding to this is the character designer of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure speaking out about this overwork.
20:57: Vic Mignogna has decided not to reflect on his actions as he mentioned in his tweet a few months ago, and instead sue Funimation, Monica Rial, Rial’s fiance Ronald Toye, and Jaime Marchi. Justin and Helen discuss this, and how this basically could take a while to resolve itself (although one thing is most likely a guarantee).

37:30: As Helen mentions succinctly, DMP came out of their cave to announce they’re starting a new imprint, LILYKA. This seems like unusual timing, despite the fact that yes, companies can try and do different things. Unfortunately for them, they have a lot of immediate KS things to worry about before doing this. So both hosts are confused as to what they’re doing.
40:42: Four new Jump titles will begin in Shonen Jump, and one of them is from the creator of Boruto’s dad Naruto. Golden Kamuy and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure (Parts 1-3) have been added to the vault. And VIZ announced they licensed the Persona 5 manga.

Let’s just say one of the titles on this list makes Justin think back to the TechTV days.
50:55: Finally for licenses, Justin can’t believe This Art Club Has a Problem! got licensed by Maiden Japan, so he had to sneak that in here.
Weird news
51:22: There’s a project called Shōnen Jumaga Gakuen that Shueisha and Kodansha are taking part in, and it’s pretty cool. This project has led to them combining their magazines that three lucky people can win. Anddddd it’s pretty big.
53:25: Finally in terms of weird news…Justin called it. Well, almost regarding Sonic the Hedgehog in Hollywood form. The dislikes did top the likes, but in addition to them not disabling the comments, they’re gonna redo the design. That’s pretty rare…and with it coming in November, how fast can they make this change is one people should wonder about it.
