Show Notes

0:00: Justin and Helen return one week later just so they can stick to the schedule that was created at the start of the year! (So back to episodes every other week after this!). This does give them enough time to explain what they’ve been up to, from Helen going to Katsucon and telling of most of the stories there to Justin finally revealing that he could not hold back and ended up finishing Bookworm…all of it.

News

16:20: With the uncertainly surrounding Diamond, UDON has signed a deal with Lunar to distribute their works, which gets the two hosts discussing this distribution news.

18:03: Umi Sakurai’s not feeling too great, so the A Man and His Cat manga will go on hiatus for a bit of time; Grave of the Fireflies composer Michio Mamiya passed away at 95.

24:38: We got more Dark Horse manga to talk about, even one that’s new; Meanwhile, VIZ has added Land of Monsters to their simulpub catalog.

Streaming News

25:52: GKIDS once again has added another movie to their catalog, this time the Hatsune Miku film!

26:36: The Bocchi compilation films & Touken Ranbu Kai -Dо̄den Chikashi Haberau Monora- are now on Crunchyroll, which surely means Justin can skip the main TV series of Bocchi and hop on the recap films right? (Meanwhile Helen gives him the side eye)

Winter Anime 2025: Mid-Season Impressions

27:14: Justin and Helen spend the rest of the podcast discussing the Winter Anime 2025 season, which, well, has been pretty lackluster. Very few standouts, mostly ok shows, though that means the sequels will be carrying the season (See The Apothecary Diaries S2, My Happy Marriage S2, Hanako-kun S2, Re:Zero S3 Part 2 to name a few). The hosts do have a few new favorites however (Welcome to Japan, Ms. Elf!, From Bureaucrat to Villainess: Dad’s Been Reincarnated!, Medalist).
