Show Notes
0:00: Justin and Helen have to kick things off by of course acknowledging that this podcast, after four years, reached its 100th episode. Somehow. And then get into what they’ve been up to, ranging from Justin watching Princess Mononoke and Hi Score Girl Season 2 and reading his massive Crest of the Stars Collector’s Edition novel to Helen just watching more bad Netflix anime that doesn’t include Drifting Dragons
Pandemic News
13:47: As the days and weeks trickle by, more anime and shows continue to be delayed, from Gal & Dino to Food Wars Season 5. More anime that were planned for July have been delayed to October (Akudama Drive). Anime that were planned for October have either been delayed to January 2021 (see: S2 of The Quintessential Quintuplets) or delayed indefinitely (Mamoru Oshii’s Vladlove). More manga also continue to be affected and are also delayed.
Two massive franchises in Japan, however, have now joined being affected by COVID-19. Sazae-san did not air a new episode for the first time in 45 years. Golgo 13 is now on hiatus for the first time in 52 years.
There are companies trying to overcome this though, with Funimation starting up their own virtual con. Helen and Justin discuss how much this will be a thing long after the pandemic is over.
Licenses
21:09: Inuyasha is coming back!…Justin now has no excuse but to finally watch the Final Act now.

Helen just wonders who over at Manga Planet likes cats.
27:13: Drawn & Quarterly will release a new work from Shigeru Mizuki called Tono Monogatari and will continue bringing over more gekiga with the license of Yoshiharu Tsuge’s Red Flowers.
28:14: Yen Press announced some Star Wars manga:
- Haruichi’s Star Wars Leia, Princess of Alderaan
- Akira Aoki’s Star Wars Rebels
The most amusing part is Yen Press accidentally sending a PR with Haruichi Furudate as the creator of Star Wars Leia, Princess of Alderaan though.
30:05: And suddenly, Justin revisits its college days when talking about Ablaze bringing Jeon-Geuk-Jin and Kamaro’s The Breaker to English this November.

Weird News
43:36: Björn Andrésen became a topic a few weeks ago as Japanese Twitter noticed while watching Midsommar that he was in Death of Venice, and he potentially set up the 1970’s craze of bishounen fashion. We’d include the link to it, but the account that tweeted it is now locked. Someone may have figured out this a while ago (far back as 2019).
