News
9:09: VIZ and Crunchyroll we know has a partnership via Europe; now it appears to extend to the US branch, as now VIZ’s anime titles are now on Crunchyroll.
12:38: MAL’s starting a free manga service! The two hosts discuss MAL jumping into an area where now all of a sudden there’s a ton of services like this!

14:39: Hey, remember Digital Manga? Oh we heard from them all right. We definitely heard them Kickstarting their way into trouble.
18:31: ANiUTa’s music service lasted all of a year, as it’ll end March 31. Justin and Helen discuss this service ending so fast.
21:00: One long running Akita Shoten magazine, Princess Gold, is ending after 40 years.
22:05: Finally, you all already know what happened to Tear Studio, and a few weeks ago, they were planning for bankruptcy.
Licensing News
25:24: Tokyo Godfathers is coming back! From a 4K restoration to a new English dub and sub, this is very good news to end the year.
29:14: Manga Planet added some more manga to their catalog, though Helen keeps wondering how much more H.P. Lovecraft manga is out there for anyone to get.
30:21: Media Do International is localizing the Giant Insect manga that Crunchyroll is co-producing the anime of!
32:09: Cross Infinite World has licensed a vampire witch light novel! Helen wonders if they’re publishing too much romance though.
34:09: Discotek Media licensed a couple new titles and announced release dates for titles for 2020. Helen is very much looking forward to Symphogear’s release.
Fall Anime 2019 Season Final Thoughts
35:09: Justin and Helen talk about the Fall anime titles that aired this season. Both start with Ascendance of a Bookworm and Stars Align, which the two watched…and had varying opinions of. Mostly positive opinions, except for one aspect of Stars Align which couldn’t be helped due to production committees. Then each cover what they watched individually, from Chihayafuru 3 to Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-kun!
Weird News of 2019
1:03:00: Helen ends up performing a weird news of her own before the two discuss some of the weirdest news of 2019:
- Shinichi finally dating Ran (and even kissing!) to begin 2019.
- Dumb Florida company suing Fox for “Infringement” of Battle Angel.
- Anything involving Chiitan. Did anyone remember there was supposed to be a Chiitan anime?!?
- Anything involving the Sonic the Hedgehog movie!
- Yugi somehow showing up at a person’s house. Like, in real life!
- Someone airdropping a picture at the Studio Trigger panel at Otakon.
- Got a wrestler showing up to the job as Kirito.
- Naruto going from Hokage to Emperor.
- Virtual YTuber Kagura Mea getting actual poop sent to them.
- A 26-year-old unemployed man getting arrested for allegedly shoplifting 80 volumes of Detective Conan.
- Police weirdly being irritated by likes on a tweet involving Pierre Taki, who was arrested for drug possession.
- Having a manga editor actually say the following: “It should never have been published to begin with.” after a creator seemed to do a bit of plagarism!
- Can’t ever forget an Italian Bank learning that MHA is really popular. REALLY popular.
- Three legends (Gosho Aoyama, Mitsuru Adachi, and Kazuhito Fujita) went out of their way to crash a local bookstore. Real fun!
- Got a notable screenwriter to praise the Konosuba movie.That was the day Justin learned that Snowden was indeed an anime fan. And his cameo in a Lupin III special.
