Today is November 11th. That means for us Americans, today is Veterans Day, a day to honor those who have served. Some of you reading this may have been in the military, and if so, thank you for your service.
In honor of Veterans Day, I’m covering some of the ways current and former military members can save at some venues that may be of interest to those interested in anime, manga, and other geek-related fields.
This list includes online and brick-and-mortar locations that offer military discounts year-round. For online offers, you may have to verify your eligibility status through links like ID.me, which requires you to enter some information about yourself (birthday, date of service, etc.) before you can get your discount. As always, make sure you trust the site before giving them your data. Other places may use your .mil email address.
There are a lot of places that are doing deals today only or through today in honor of Veterans Day. Lots of restaurants are offering free or discounted meals, although ours and menu may be limited. This includes places like Applebee’s and Chili’s. Some stores have a temporary offer to take advantage through today or today only, like Target’s 10% off discount.
Finally, some places do have a discount but don’t advertise it or are left up to individual stores. Especially if you live near a military base, it might not hurt to ask.
Also, as a reminder, due to a change a few years ago, all veterans are eligible to shop at all the official military stores online. Sign up for an account, particularly Exchange and Navy Exchange as they occasionally have some incredible deals. Plus, no tax!
