Get Your Game On!

In 10 days, it’s the return of International Tabletop Day, a worldwide day of board gaming. Games have experienced a resurgence, and  titles from and inspired by Japan haven’t been left out. So whether you’re with a group of friends or going solo, let’s see what new titles have been added since last year — and at a discount prices to boot.

Even if you don’t play a lot of games, some of these make very cool collectibles to add to your collection.

Attack on Titan: The Last Stand – $20 at Hot Topic

Attack on Titan: The Last Stand

With one player playing as a Titan and the rest as Heroes, can the Scout Regiment stop the Titan from eating too many people? And when you’re finished, you still have a cool large Titan, character standees, and a mini-building with cannons to display.

You can get this sent to your local Hot Topic store for free, or shipping starts at $4.99.

Monopoly: Dragon Ball Z Edition – $20 at Hot Topic

Dragon Ball Z Monopoly

Ah, Monopoly. We’ve all raged when our token has landed yet AGAIN on Go To Jail or when no one would trade you for Atlantic Avenue or St. James. So why not go full Super Saiyan on the game? Maybe then someone will stop outbidding you during an auction. There’s an Attack on Titan version available as well at other retailers.

Again, free ship-to-store or ship-to-home starting at $4.99.

Kanagawa – $22 at eBay

Kanagawa

Maybe your family is turned off by the decidedly anime-feel of some of the other games on this list. In Kanagawa, try to be the best student of the famous Japanese painter Hokusai. Will you became famous for your pictures of landscapes, animals, or something else?

It’s sold from several different sellers, but you can get a copy for around $22 and no shipping fees.

Pokémon HedBanz – $13.60 at Amazon

Pokemon Hedbanz

For the younger or all-ages crowd, try to be the first to guess which Pokémon you are. There are a lot of versions of this game, but hey, at least you can play this one will fun to play while hunting in Pokémon Go.

Amazon shipping rules apply, or you can buy it for the same price at Walmart with their 2-day shipping to store or home.

Sword Art Online: Sword of Fellows – $17.50 at Miniature Market

Sword Art Online: Sword of Fellows

Go full-on cooperative by playing as Kirito, Asuna, or their allies as they try to save Aincrad. If you don’t like confrontational games, cooperative is the way to go. There is also a deluxe edition and some optional upgrades available only at Japanime Games’ site.

Amazon has this for slightly more ($19.99), and it qualifies for Prime or free shipping on $25+.
