So guys it’s April and you know what that means? The gyms aren’t as crowded anymore. You can go workout in peace!
….oh you don’t have a gym membership in the first place because they’re kinda expensive? I get you pal, being an anime and manga fan IS an expensive hobby after all…so how about we talk about some ways you can make your hobby work for you?
Arms, Shoulder Lifting
First up, gotta find something to lift. Frankly anything can work but can I suggest the 2,400 page, all-in-one omnibus edition of Death Note? I mean, clearly this thing isn’t meant for reading. Just look at that wussy, paperback spine!
Yeah, so you can do a lot of things with a weight. Bicep curls, raising it up and down, over your head and back down, with enough reps anything can be useful! And if you’re feeling like the Death Note omnibus might be a little too lightweight, then can I suggest the hardcover Spice & Wolf omnibus? Since as I can personally attest, boy that one is heavy:
Leg Workouts
Now, don’t forget to skip leg day! (Seriously, never skip leg day.) If you’ve been skipping leg day for a while now you might be surprised that a simple exercise like “stepping up and down off a stool” can tire you out pretty quick but it can! For this exercise, I recommend the full run of Gundam: The Origin. With twelve hardcover volumes you can stack the books up five by five next to each other and give yourself a good wide platform to step onto!
Just be careful when transporting these volumes when you aren’t using them to work out though:
One dude just bought all 10 vols of Origin. …His backpack exploded.

Cardio
Now remember, you REALLY can’t forget the cardio! Since, like, forget even working out, honestly you need cardio just to be in shape for your regular day-to-day life.
But it’s hard to fit all of this exercise in isn’t it? So, why not exercise along to the latest idol anime as your watching it? Like, say Idolish7 from last season:
It’s a shame that dancing openings and endings aren’t as big a thing as they used to be, although if you’re a Precure fan you’re in luck! (Personally I think this is one of the weaker endings but whatever)
And that’s it folks, that’s how to make your hobby work for YOU and give you a new, swole self in the process!
